Foreign Summer Help for the Retail Businesses.
This program benefits hundreds of seasonally oriented retail businesses. Select foreign university students have the unique opportunity to visit the United States and work in an American retail company for a maximum of four months during their summer vacation. The foreign staff will have, or acquire upon arrival, a Social Security card. They will be further validated by a branch of the Department of Homeland Security. They are required to maintain appropriate comprehensive health insurance during their time in the United States. J-1 visitors are exempt from Medicare, Social Security and federal unemployment taxes. By federal regulation, participants must have sufficient competence in English to participate in this program. International students are very hard-working, intelligent and they are extremely flexible, willing to perform a variety of duties, and to work as many hours as may be needed. There are no hiring costs to the employer; however, it is essential to apply for foreign workers in advance, so there is more time to select the best candidates to match your specific hiring requirements. The best time to start would be in November or December.
